Organization

The College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs (OSA) oversees and coordinates year-round Student Services for College of Medicine students. Services range from student programming to course selection and compliance for students on the Oklahoma City campus.  The director oversees operations, manages office staff, and provides student support.

Duties:

  • Oversees the daily operations for the College of Medicine Student Affairs Office (MD and PA) to ensure successful operation of essential functions, including:                  
    • Student orientation 
    • Course scheduling and enrollment
    • Compliance
    • Student life, including wellness programming and special events planning 
    • Academic and career advising 
    • Scholarships 
    • Degree audits and graduation certification
  • Supervises office staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, training, conducting performance appraisals, disciplining, delegating tasks, overseeing work, and development.
  • Anticipates staffing needs by analyzing workflow, strengths of employees, etc. 
  • Plans and coordinates student orientation and onboarding.
  • Serves as the Student Services Representative for all college and campus organizations and activities.
  • Assists the Dean or Associate Dean in applying and monitoring academic policy and standards for all students and programs.   
  • Assists Dean and Associate Dean with administering the University and college Academic Appeals and Misconduct procedures.   
  • Advises Dean and Associate Dean on all matters related to student activities, campus life, and student learning issues. 
  • Works with administration, faculty, staff, and students to develop and maintain a student-friendly environment and to facilitate learning. 
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. 

Job Location

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field AND:

  • 24 months experience in Student Services to include admissions, recruitment, course scheduling, and curriculum development plus 12 months experience managing an academic or Student Services area.

Skills:

  • Advanced organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and judgment when following broad instructions.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize workload.
  • Advanced level of analytical, evaluative, and constructive thinking.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Sits for prolonged periods.  Use of a computer. Communicates effectively and listens. Manual dexterity.
  • Environmental: Standard office work environment.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience working with professional students.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft for enrollment purposes.
