Job Summary: The Student Nurse Intern is responsible for assisting in direct patient care, specific to the unit assigned. This Includes assisting with patient transfers, repositioning, transporting of patients, supplies, or specimens and any other duties necessary to ensure optimal patient care under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. In addition to the duties assigned to a Patient Care Technician, the Nurse Intern can complete the additional tasks of wet-to-dry and sterile dressing changes, insertion and removal of Foley Catheters, administration of routine screening tests/immunizations, removal of intravenous catheter, administration of routine oral, intramuscular, rectal, topical, or subcutaneous medications, and documentation of these procedures and medication administration.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent and currently attending an accredited school of nursing (LPN, ADN or BSN) with completion of at least the first semester (Pharmacology, Health Assessment and Fundamentals of nursing)
- Experience: On the job training available
- Licenses/Certifications: Must maintain current BLS certification
