Job Summary: The Student Nurse Intern is responsible for assisting in direct patient care of all age groups, specific to the unit assigned; assisting with patient transfers, repositioning, transporting of patients, supplies, or specimens; and any other duties necessary to ensure optimal patient care under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. In addition to the duties assigned to a Patient Care Technician, the Nurse Intern can complete the additional tasks of wet-to-dry and sterile dressing changes, insertion and removal of Foley Catheters, administration of routine screening tests/immunizations, removal of intravenous catheter, administration of routine oral, intramuscular, rectal, topical, or subcutaneous medications, and documentation of these procedures and medication administration. The Nurse Intern reports to nursing leadership staff.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and currently attending an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN) with completion of the first semester of nursing curriculum or a recent graduate from an accredited school of nursing and successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and nursing fundamentals.
Experience: Completion of first semester of nursing curriculum or a recent graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Licenses/Certifications: Must maintain current BLS certification
