Compensation :
Pay Range: $15.50 - $19.50 / hour
Responsibilities :
This position is for students currently enrolled in a nursing or healthcare-related program seeking direct patient care experience. For this position, we offer flexible scheduling options that can work with your student schedule.
For 1st or 2nd semesters, you will be eligible for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) position.
For 3rd semester and above, you are eligible for the Nursing Student Graduate Aide (NSGA) position.

NSGA : Working with a Registered Nurse, you will be able to perform the same as above with the following additions:
Job Description :
PCT: To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital. To obtain and record vitals, weight, inputs and outputs. To successfully complete an in-house PCT training program. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety.
NSGA: Functioning in an unlicensed capacity and under the direct supervision of an RN, to perform specific aspects of basic patient care. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety.
Qualifications
Current nursing or healthcare-related students seeking patient care experience
PCT: High School diploma or GED required. Certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within thirty (30) days of date of employment required.
NSGA: Currently enrolled in an approved nursing education program or graduate of approved school of nursing who have not achieved licensure as a Registered Nurse required. Current students must have completed the following courses to be eligible: Pharmacology, Medication Administration, Nursing Fundamentals. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within thirty (30) days of employment.

PCT :
- To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital
- Assist patient with everyday needs, including bathing, restroom/bedpan assistance, etc.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, weights, input and outputs)
- Obtain EKGs
- Draw blood and perform finger sticks
- Obtain fluid samples or other specimens for testing
- Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments
- Notify nursing staff of any issues or concerns
- Keep patient rooms clean and sanitized
- Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies
- Assist patients with particular issues or needs
- Provide appropriate emotional support
- Committed to health care standards
- Demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety
- Empathetic and approachable
- Work as a part of the health care team
- Successful completion of PCT orientation
- CPR certified within 30 days of employment
NSGA : Working with a Registered Nurse, you will be able to perform the same as above with the following additions:
- Peripheral IV removal
- Sterile dressing changes
- NG tube placement and removal
- Foley insertion with nurse witness
- Other advanced tasks beyond PCT scope.
