Are you a dedicated law enforcement professional looking for a flexible part-time opportunity to serve the University of Maine at Farmington and make a positive impact within the campus and the community?  We are currently seeking motivated indivdiuals to join our team as Part-time Police Officers.  As a Part-time Police Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to safety, assist in maintaining law and order and provide a valuable service to our community.

 

In this role, you will patrol the UMF campus, investigate complaints of crime, provide campus escorts, issue parking tickets, provide security and assistance at campus events, respond to all calls for police/emergency assistance and utilize community policing techniques.  Additionally, confidential police work to protect life and property, enforce university regulartions/policies, detect and apprehend violators and follow federal, state and local laws.  All work is accomplished within departmental procedures, but judgment, initiate and sensitivity to issues in a higher education environment are required.

 

This position pays $22.73 per hour plus a shift differential

 

Positions in this class require the ability to:   balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   Candidates may be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, oils, bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement Training Program  or Completion of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Pre-Service Course Phase III  or
