Rooms Intern (Hotel Operations) | Hotel Leo & Heliotrope Hotel
As a Rooms Intern, you will be immersed in all aspects of our operations. From Front Desk through to Heart of House service, you will be exposed to the different areas of Hotel Leo & Heliotrope Hotel. You will work closely with department leaders at each phase of your training to develop core competencies including, but not limited to, a comprehensive understanding of department operations and positions, interdepartmental coordination and pillars of exceptional guest and team member service. The intern will receive regular feedback from department leaders on performance and learning objectives to set them up for success!

What you'll do:
The Brass Tacks

  • Learns practical application of leadership skills in various departments including Rooms Division, Food and Beverage, and Sales, including but not limited to: management of software such as: Cloudbeds, Lightspeed POS, Netsuite, Dayforce, Akia,
  • Supports all departments when trained.
  • Works to support all departments operationally.
  • Develops and maintains favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments.
  • Manages guest issues effectively, keeping in mind both the guest's needs and business objectives.
  • Conducts adequate follow-up with both guest and fellow team members.
  • Serves as operational lead in absence of direct manager/supervisor.
  • Assists manager in training and coaching team members.
  • Positively contributes to CH Values and property culture.

The Nitty Gritty
  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year College or University, or 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently is required to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • The ability to quickly learn and apply new procedures.
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • The ability to solve practical problems when only limited standardization exists.
  • The ability to interpret written and oral instructions.
  • Strong computer skills: Full knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word.
