ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: currently searching for one Part-Time, Student Executive Director of the Student Security Operations Center to work, under the supervision of Mr. Curtis Carpenter, Dr. Ron Pike and Dr. Indira Guzman.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The part-time Student Executive Director's duties and responsibilities include:
- Drive the vision and planning of the Student Security Operations Center (SOC)
- Manage a team of students that operate the various SIEM systems within the SOC
- Oversee training activities to ensure adequate staffing and access to all CPP students
- Coordinate activities with the university IT security team
- Engage with SOC partners on and off campus
- Represent the SOC in presentations and marketing
- Monitor the cybersecurity health of systems within the Mitchell C Hill Student Data Center
- Report to faculty advisors
- Other duties as assigned by faculty advisors
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least junior standing in an academic program at Cal Poly Pomona
- 1+ year's SIEM system experience
- Proven record of leadership in student co/extra-curricular activities
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
- High degree of professionalism, work ethic and team player
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills, detail oriented
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
- Great customer service skills
Preferred
Experience with cybersecurity competitions
