The Construction Project Manager in the Operations Division - Crane Section is responsible for performing advanced professional and administrative work in designing and managing crane improvement projects for the Port Everglades Department.

Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Special Certifications and Licenses
Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a valid Seaport Business Purpose Credential for the duration of employment.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Architecture, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field
Licensed Engineer in the State of Florida or Licensed General or Building Contractor in the State of Florida
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
LEED certification
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Experience using Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Five (5) years of experience in governmental accounting and procurement processes
Five (5) years of experience in public-sector Construction Project management
Three (3) years of experience in gantry crane maintenance
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Develop and prepare engineering plans and designs for various crane improvement projects; estimate quantities and costs of such projects.
Assist consultants in the development of Construction Projects; issue work orders to consultants, surveyors, and testing labs; review consultants' plans and specifications at various stages of development for conformance to design standards, completeness, and accuracy; monitor consultants' cost estimates and verify consultant's invoices and recommend payment.
Coordinate bid advertisements; schedule and assist in conducting pre-bid conferences; assist in evaluating bids and making recommendations for award of contract.
Schedule and assist in conducting pre-bid construction meetings with consultants, contractors, and subcontractors; issue Notice to Proceed to contractors; reviews field inspection reports.
Assist in preparing schedules and monitor construction progress; assist in preparing change orders; maintain records of consultant's payments.
Assist in the inspection of projects for substantial completion and prepares punch list of any deficiencies; arrange for correction of defects by the contractor during the warranty period and conduct inspection at the end of the warranty period to ensure correction of defects.
Prepare required paperwork for capitalizing and closing the project; perform special investigations, site analyses, and feasibility studies as required and submit technical and management reports.
Meet with consultants, contractors, utility organizations, city, state, and federal agencies, civic associations, business and community leaders, property owners, and attorneys; assist with preparing the budget for capital expenditures.
Perform related work as assigned.
