Job Summary:

The Steward is responsible for washing/sanitizing dishes, glassware, flatware, cooking pots/utensils and related food service related equipment. Helps prepare and deliver plated food for banquets/events. Cleans kitchen areas and equipment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans according to hotel's standard of cleanliness
• Places clean dishes, utensils and cooking equipment in appropriate storage areas
• Stocks supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
• Follows all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines

Job Requirements:

• Ability to learn proper use of various types of equipment and cleaning materials used in cleaning assigned areas
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions

Ideal Candidate will have:

• Previous hotel/restaurant experience a plus
• Previous stewarding experience

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to lift/move and exert around 50 pounds of force occasionally, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard, calculator and other office/IT equipment.
