Job Description
Sterne School seeks an Admissions Associate to support all aspects of the admission process from recruitment through enrollment, performing a wide variety of administrative tasks and assisting with the management of department operations. The Admissions Office is the initial point of contact for prospective families and each team member must possess a welcoming, warm and courteous demeanor, positive attitude, and absolute professionalism. Clerical and computer competence, including excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal and organizational skills is a must for this position.
This position reports to the Director of Admissions and Head of School and works closely with the entire school; faculty, staff, parents, and students.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage inquiries and correspond with prospective families via phone and email, providing information about the application process and general details about school programs. Maintain prompt communications with prospective families.
2. Maintain and update database in collaboration with the Director
3. Assist in the planning, organization, correspondence, and execution of Admissions events
4. Occasional attendance of evening and weekend events required, including representing Sterne School at Bay Area admission fairs and other events as requested
5. Outreach to various constituents to boost knowledge of and referral to Sterne, including attending the Inclusive School Group meetings and events
6. Assist with scheduling of student visit days, student ambassador hosts, and administering assessments for students
7. Assist with new family process: summer connections/communication, welcome events and swag gift distribution
8. Assist with general admission communication, mailings, distribution of admissions marketing materials and other projects
9. Other special duties and miscellaneous projects as assigned by the Director of Admissions
Required Skills
1. Three or more years of School Admissions or educational experience.
2. Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
3. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and prioritize.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Exceptional people skills and phone etiquette.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Sensitivity, discretion, and a sense of humor.
8. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and working knowledge of database management. Computer skills are a must.
