Role Summary:
Sterile Processing Techis in charge of preparing and organizing medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, overseeing Sterile Processing zones, and managing the reception and distribution of surgical supplies and equipment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, packaging, disinfecting, or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
- Distribute medical and surgical supplies from Sterile Processing areas to other facility or healthcare organization areas as required.
- Follow standard precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies, and equipment.
- Safely operate equipment used in Sterile Processing areas in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical, and biological indicators for all sterilizers used in Sterile Processing areas.
- Manage inventory, receiving, and restocking of materials essential for supporting Sterile Processing services.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
- Demonstrate professional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Aid in enhancing the quality of Sterile Processing services.
- Assist in identifying relevant evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
- Uphold privacy and confidentiality standards for individuals and health information.
- Attend and actively participate in daily safety huddles.
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Fulfill other assigned duties as required.
Education, Experience, and Licensure:
· Completion of high school or equivalent education.
· Knowledge of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies, including adherence to industry-standard principles and practices, is necessary.
· Previous experience in instrument processing is desirable.
· Previous experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist is advantageous.
· Completion of a BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or proof of current BCLS certification is mandatory.
· Certification in instrument processing is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
