Position Summary
The Certified Public Accountant provides high level financial analysis and coaching to DSCC leadership while ensuring compliance with all fiscal policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Access financial data from various electronic resources and reports. Review monthly financial reports, present financial status to leadership, answer questions and clarify financial information. Coach, counsel and advise senior management, including directors, associate directors and officers regarding financial matters. Oversee and direct the planning and administration of financial reporting, accounts receivable, auditing, and third-party reimbursement and reporting.
  • Develops and maintains a system to regularly assess the financial management of all DSCC activities.Recommends to the Executive Director specific financial plans for improving/managing existing programs and implementing new programs.Identify and develop opportunities and services to maximize revenues or reduce expenses.
  • Interpret, develop and implement fiscal policy in compliance with federal, state and university policies. Monitor compliance and implement changes as necessary.
  • Review and provide an analysis of program proposals to determine fiscal impact and make recommendations for budget allocations.
  • Assists in preparing annual budget in collaboration with department administrators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications:
    Minimum Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
    2. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
      (NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
    3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
    • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (License not required)
    • A minimum of five years' professional experience reviewing financial data and making recommendations to management.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Detailed knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to Accrual, Modified Accrual and Fund Accounting
    • Ability to create, utilize and maintain financial reports required for decision making by Senior Administration
    • Must be able to present financial information to non-financial personnel
    • Ability to identify trends and provide detailed analysis regarding the effects of such trends
    • Possess understanding of cost accounting and ability to report on such
    • Skill to present complex financial information to both DSCC Senior Administration and the university budget office.
