Capital One, a Fortune Magazine “100 Best Companies to Work For,” is seeking an innovative and data-driven Search Engine Marketing Manager to drive more acquisitions in Business Card and Payments (BC&P). BC&P is building on its past successes to develop an industry-leading business credit card program for small to medium-sized businesses. This specialist will develop SEM channel strategies for acquiring new customers and will play a critical role in the marketing team’s ambitious growth objectives. They will regularly collaborate cross-functionally with other channel leads across Business Card, external agencies, Product and Tech partners, among other groups. Success in this role requires a mix of channel marketing expertise, comprehensive product portfolio knowledge, and marketing analytics and optimization experience.
As an expert in Search Engine Marketing (SEM), the Marketing Manager will be responsible for taking our SEM program from strong to excelling while delivering high-impact, bottom-line business growth. They will thoughtfully execute end-to-end digital marketing practices - from keyword audits to agency and editorial briefing and creative development, through analyzing results and developing performance insights to feed into the next cycle of optimizations. Excellent project management skills will be key to success. A standout candidate will also possess people management skills or prior experience leading people.
Responsibilities:
Monitor paid search marketing trends and generate insights to identify opportunities for campaign improvement and optimization
Carry out campaign management tasks, including optimization, budget control and forecasting
Develop a roadmap and execute on campaign testing, including ad copy, landing page, audience, and channel expansion testing
Coordinate across internal teams, including Compliance, Brand Marketing, Customer Experience, Analytics, Data, Technology, etc. to execute SEM strategies end-to-end
Characteristics we’re looking for:
A “self-starter” with strong organizational skills, ownership mentality, and ability to prioritize workloads
Solid understanding of and ability to communicate to leadership on performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition strategies and metrics
Ability to mine campaign performance data to identify high-leverage opportunities
A fast learner of new digital marketing and SEM-specific technology tools
A collaborative mindset for working well with high-performing teammates, as well as partners across the enterprise
Comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets in Excel / Google Sheets
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 5 years of experience in planning, executing and analyzing paid digital marketing campaigns
At least 3 years of experience in Paid Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
At least 3 years of experience implementing SEM optimization and testing strategies on the Google Ads platform
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Marketing or Business
7 years of experience in managing paid search and display marketing campaigns
5 years of experience implementing end-to-end SEM optimization and testing strategies
2 years of experience in marketing for financial services or another highly regulated industry
2 years of experience working with a third-party creative or ad agency
1 year of experience as a people manager or 3 years of experience as an effective team lead for organizing work within a team
