About the Position
The SALT Manager is responsible for seeing consulting projects through to completion and working closely with our SALT practice leader to expand their SALT knowledge. This position will work in both the direct and indirect tax areas. Central Pennsylvania is the preferred location for our ideal candidate, but remote work will be considered. Other daily and monthly opportunities for this role include:
Income/Franchise Tax:
- Execute on special filings – e.g. amended returns for refunds, past due returns for voluntary disclosures – based on opportunities identified by the practice leader
- Prepare or review complex SALT returns for compliance and planning strategies
- Respond to notices from taxing authorities
- Act as a resource to associates for questions on SALT return preparation, including matters such as Federal-to-state adjustments and sales sourcing
Sales/Use Tax:
- Conduct nexus reviews and exposure calculations to advise clients and associates about recommended filings
- Work with clients to enter into and finalize voluntary disclosure agreements
- Act as a resource to associates for questions regarding matters such as taxability of certain sales & purchases and economic nexus post-Wayfair
- Assist in representing clients in audits and appeals before state taxing authorities
This position prefers a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CCH Axcess, Caseware or ProSystem fx software experience is preferred as well as five plus years’ of public accounting work and a CPA certification preferred.
