Position Profile
Weaver seeks a Severance Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join our SALT practice. The Severance Tax Manager or Senior Manager will identify Severance tax savings opportunities for multi-state clients, and deliver exceptional work product to our clients. They will meet with clients and/or taxing authorities, prepare correspondence, research complex tax planning issues, complete data reconciliations, exemption and marketing reviews, defend Severance Tax audits and prepare tax filings. A Weaver Tax Manager or Senior Manager is a driven team player who provides excellent service to clients throughout all phases of the engagement while developing, training and mentoring Associates and Senior Associates.
Education and Skills
- 5 + years of multi-state Severance Tax experience in a public accounting or consulting firm
- Experience with Severance Tax compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, Master’s degree or JD preferred
- CPA, CMI and/or JD required
- Experience in preparation and delivery of Severance Tax refund claims and performing Audit defense services in multiple state jurisdictions
- Knowledgeable in tax research and strategic planning deliverables
- Strong relationship management and practice development skills
- Strong business development and marketing Severance Tax services
- Known and respected leader in Severance Tax Services
- Proven ability to manage and develop lower level staff, as well as, attract and retain top talent in order to grow and build sustainable Severance Tax team
