PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER

The School of the Performing Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.
The School of Performing Arts at Proctors, in Schenectady, New York is seeking an experienced, creative Stage Manager for the Broadway Camp summer program.
The Broadway Camp will be performed with a student orchestra, cast and crew of over 40 high school students of varying diverse backgrounds from throughout the Capital Region from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Previous shows have been ALL SHOOK UP , PIPPIN,AIDA, LES MISERABLES, RENT, INTO THE WOODS, THE PROM. Broadway Camp is a pre-professional training program which ends with a full production performed on Proctors Mainstage. The company is made up of students in acting, production and orchestra from July 1 st to July 26 th , Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, plus show calls Friday and Saturday. All creative and production staff share the responsibility of working with students, providing training in their area of expertise as they work collaboratively on the show.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Multi-tasking and creating schedules
Coordination and running of rehearsals
Cueing and calling performances (Lights, Sound, Follow spots, fly system)
Coordinating crews working with a combination of theater professionals from Proctors with the integration of students from diverse backgrounds that requires understanding, empathy and inclusion. The students are 14-19 years old with a broad range of skill levels and represent various high schools and communities.
Assist with Interns as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Stage Manager experience
Experience with large full-scale musicals
Demonstrated experience working directly with diverse students and large scale casts
Teaching Artist experience ideal
BA in Theatre/Stage Management or equivalent experience or earning degree.
CONTRACT PERIOD:
This is a five-week commitment commencing on June 24 and ending July 27.
Program runs from July 1 to July 26 (no class July 4), Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Pre-production meetings as needed in person or via phone or video conference call. Start date for auditions and limited meetings is February 2023.
Shows on July 26 and 27 (Friday at 7 pm, and Saturday at 2 pm and 7 pm).
PAY RATE: Stipend $3000.
