The Impact team has fundraised $1.7M+ for social causes and organizations like the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Ukrainian Refugees, and COVID-19 relief. With many of our content pieces, we aim to provide our readers with action items, directing hundreds of thousands of petition signatures to important causes such as Abortion Access, climate justice, and many more.

Job Description
Impact is looking for a Staff Writer! This position is ideal for anyone who deeply cares about the intersection of social issues and culture, with a particular focus on Gen Z. You will be working closely with the revenue team and your editors to ideate and write branded content for our value-driven partners – this will constitute approximately 50% of your role.
You will:
- Write multiple content pieces a day - around 10 - 15 content pieces per week, comprising a mix of pitches and assignments.
- Play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of content by fact-checking your own work and the work of fellow writers
- Ideate and execute marketing concepts and branded content for value driven brands across a wide range of industries
- Stay up-to-date on the latest news pertaining to social issues and pop culture trends, social issues, news, and discourse that's relevant to Gen Z
- Collaborate closely with the Editor to report on current events, breaking news, underreported stories, and more.
- Generate content that elaborates on major news stories and current events to inform our audience about the underlying social issues.
- Keep abreast of pop culture trends, including celebrity news, popular movies & shows, viral trends, and other topics of interest to Gen Z.
- Have a deep comprehension of social issues and their intersection with cultural dynamics, going beyond surface-level celebrity coverage to analyze broader societal implications.
Compensation: 50K - 59K *Job offers will be extended based on the provided salary range, taking into account the individual's experience.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has…
- 1-3+ years of experience in professional writing or journalism
- Concise writing skills for social media with a clear voice and adherence to deadlines
- Knowledge of journalistic standards and best reporting practices
- The ability to write social media copy that resonates with our Gen Z audience
- An impeccable understanding of grammar & storytelling
- A deep interest in social issues and advancing social change through media
- Experience with researching nuanced topics & finding reputable sources
- A strong commitment to thoroughly fact-checking to ensure the accuracy of information
