About the Role
In this position, the Staff Validation Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor to validation of custom compute and storage data center platforms. The Staff Validation Engineer will be working in a cross-functional team that develops and executes test plans to verify product functionality and adherence to specifications and production requirements, including software stack and use case testing. The Staff Validation Engineer will also debug, identify root cause, and resolve issues as they occur. As a senior technical member of the team, the Staff Validation will also mentor and coach other members of the team on testing procedures and technologies.
What You Will Do
- • Develop test specifications, requirements, strategies, and methodologies for hardware, firmware, and software stack validation.
- • Design test effort preparation and track requirements, schedules, and actions.
- • Create, track, document, and summarize test results.
- • Work with the team to lead and perform internal server research and development hardware validation support.
- • Design, analyze, and contribute to improving and enhancing test plans and scripts.
- • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues found during testing.
- • Work in close collaboration with build technicians to ensure system are built, configured, and prepared correctly for testing.
- • Work closely with vendors in debugging and interpreting errors found during validation test runs.
What you Bring
- • BSEE or similar technical degree.
- • 8+ years of System Validation experience.
- • Knowledge of Windows OS operations and debug using Windows System Event logs, the Windows ADK, and other system diagnostic tools.
- • Basic understanding of Unix/Linux.
- • Usage, development, and modification of Microsoft PowerShell scripts.
- • Experience with datacenter and server virtualization (VMware ESX, XEN, Hyper-V, etc.).
- • Experience working with Windows server bring ups, debugging, and testing.
- • Knowledge of test plan creation.
- • Knowledge of the latest server and storage architecture and components.
- • Knowledge of modern computer architecture and usage models including AMD and Client processors, GPU Acceleration, BMC, BIOS, PCIe, DDR4, SATA, NVMe etc.
- • Working knowledge of standard server/workstation hardware, storage arrays, storage networking, networking protocols, and general connectivity in multi-platform enterprise environments.
- • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams and multiple levels of both management and customer contacts.
