AddressDistinguished Engineer (Foursquare Labs, Inc., Seattle, WA)
Develop next-generation technologies that change how tens of millions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Lead information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing. Build a team and cultivate innovation by driving cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams. Lead designs of major software components, systems, and features. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve the software utilizing expertise in software development using a general-purpose programming language (e.g., C/C++,Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, Go, Objective-C, and/or Swift). Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise. Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, and coding standards. Architect and develop solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact utilizing Infrastructure, Machine Learning, Mobile Application Development, Front End Development Security and Privacy. Drive the architecture and design of large scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using object-oriented design, distributed programming, Java, and Scala. Gather business and functional requirements from external and/or internal customers and end users, and translate requirements into technical specification to build robust, scalable, and supportable solutions that work well between a range of complex systems. Serve as technical lead throughout the full development life cycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception design, implementation and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance. Provide design reviews for other integration, performance and scalability. Manage resources on multiple technical projects and ensure schedules, milestones, and priorities are compatible with technology and business goals. Partial telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to Foursquare Labs, Inc. at 801 5th Avenue, 22nd Floor, Seattle, WA 98104. Salary: $330,000 -$415,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, plus 5 years as a SW Developer, SW Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title involving software development of applications and systems.
Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience providing technical leadership including leading project teams and setting technical direction throughout all stages of the software development life cycle (including designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and improving software applications and systems); 5 years of professional experience architecting software solutions utilizing Infrastructure, Machine Learning, Mobile Application Development, Embedded Systems, Front End Development Security, and Privacy; 5 years of professional experience designing large scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using object-oriented design, distributed programming, Java, and C/C++; 5 years of professional experience utilizing programming languages including C/C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, Go, Objective-C, or Swift; and 5 years of professional experience performing information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing.
