We have an opening for aStaff Scrum Master to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA and will be performed onsite
Scrum Masters are servant leaders and coaches for an Agile Team. They help educate the team in Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe, ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed. They also help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.
The Scrum Master role is taken by a team member whose primary responsibility is assisting the self-organizing, self-managing team to achieve its goals. Scrum Masters do this by teaching and coaching team practices, implementing and supporting SAFe principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow. They also work with the extended Scrum Master community, including Release Train Engineers and Solution Train Engineers, to increase the effectiveness of SAFe across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Exhibit Lean-Agile leadership - Exhibit the behaviors of a Lean-Agile Leader with a Lean-Agile Mindset. Help the team embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe Principles, and implement SAFe practices
- Support the team rules - These may include the rules of Scrum, Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP), Work in Process (WIP) limits from Kanban, and any other process rules the team has agreed to
- Facilitate the team's progress toward team goals - Act as facilitator and be engaged in performance improvement in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. Help the team focus on creating increments of value each iteration and achieving daily and Iteration Goals in the context of the current Program Increment (PI) Objectives
- Lead team efforts in relentless improvement - Help the team improve and take responsibility for their actions; facilitate the team retrospective. Teach problem-solving techniques and help the team become better problem-solvers
- Facilitate events - Facilitate team events, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective. Ensure they are productive and kept within the timebox
- Support the Product Owner - Help in efforts to manage backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope
- Facilitate the removal of impediments - Many blocking issues will be beyond the team's authority or may require support from other teams. You will support the team in addressing and eliminating these issues to improve the likelihood of achieving objectives
- Promote SAFe quality practices - Assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD). Foster a culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship
- Build a high-performing team - Focus on ever-improving team dynamics and performance, and coach the team in self-management. Help the team resolve interpersonal conflicts and challenges, and identify opportunities for growth. Escalate people problems to management where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue; help individuals
- Responsibilities on the train - Help coordinate inter-team cooperation and help the team operate well on the train
- Coordinate with other teams -Support the team's efforts to continuously improve communications and relationships. Represent the team in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS), helping the team remain aware of opportunities to engage and improve program
- Support SAFe adoption - Support the overall adoption of SAFe across the enterprise by coaching stakeholders and other non-agile teams on effective interactions with agile teams, participating in the Scrum Master Community of Practice, and supporting the organization's SPCs
- Enable organizational effectiveness - Work with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall development Value Stream
- Facilitate preparation and readiness for ART events - Assist the team in preparation for ART activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, and the Inspect and Adapt
- Support estimating - Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and help the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in a STEM field (ideally computer science) with 14 years of experience, or a Masters with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 9 years of experience. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree
- Experience in an Agile environment and w/ SAFe practices
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
- Experience with Space or Satellite systems and concepts

Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
