The lead Quality Engineer for Battery Pack is the technical expert and lead for manufacturing Quality Engineering. The candidate will manage Quality Engineers that are responsible for areas of the line but will also lead the technical analysis of the most challenging problems with the respective cross functional design, process, production and field teams. Responsibility includes all incoming, inline, and outgoing quality for their manufacturing areas. The primary objective of this role is to support the production of high quality vehicles through risks analysis and mitigation, and continual improvement of our products and processes. An ideal candidate is a data-driven individual that has demonstrated complex problem solving skills, who can strive in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations.
- Develop manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and product quality plans to ensure products will meet expectations of our target customers
- Lead development of PFMEAs, control plans, and test/inspection procedures to identify and eliminate risks associated with our products and processes
- Drive cross-functional problem solving teams to drive process and product improvements, and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation, and validation of effective corrective and preventive actions
- Support qualification and validation of new products and new production lines
- Collaborate with internal supply chain and external suppliers to drive continual improvement of supplier quality
- Lead activities for control of non-conforming product and develop disposition guidelines
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, related fields, or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment in Battery Pack or cell field
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in root cause analysis, statistical analysis, and complex problem solving
- Experience in advanced quality concepts, including PFMEA/DFMEA, risk management, process control, continuous improvement, DoE, and six sigma concepts
