Role Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Retail Officer, the VP of Home Loans will direct, lead, and coordinate all functions of the Home Loan Department and staff. Ensure and maintain a profitable mortgage-lending portfolio, drive production goals, oversee servicing, and provide oversight of the loan portfolio consistent with established policies and procedures. Project professional image, exercise independent judgment, and maintain confidentiality with all member and sensitive data.
What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Lead the Home Loan Department operations and administer the Credit Union lending programs consistent with Credit Union objectives.
  2. Work with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, Retail, and Consumer Lending, to develop strategies and tactics to drive loan production, meeting or exceeding credit union loan production targets.
  3. Develop and maintain underwriting procedures and implement strategies that allow the credit union to actively sell into the secondary market or portfolio residential loans as balance sheet strategy dictates.
  4. Establish and document processes to ensure the credit union is meeting all regulatory requirements and fully mitigating associated risk.
  5. Identify and monitor all loans held for sale, providing senior management with detailed reports on an on-going basis.
  6. Prepare periodic loan department updates and periodic reports for management's financial and operational reports, including loan portfolio statistics, status, delinquency, new loans, and interest rate terms.
  7. Interview, train, evaluate, supervise, schedule, coach and develop department staff as needed to provide responsive and professional service to our membership.
  8. Provide recommendation to management regarding changes to products, loan policies and procedures while following lending laws and regulations.
  9. Price and sell products consistent with Credit Union objectives.
  10. Manage and oversee investor relationships, including Fannie Mae, to help maintain Credit Union liquidity and limit interest rate risk.
  11. Work to develop and maintain an exceptional member experience throughout the mortgage origination and servicing processes. Member experience strategy should complement and align with the overall credit union member experience strategy.
  12. Understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  13. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  14. Provide support and oversight for the selling, packaging and timely delivery of loans consistent with investor requirements (Conventional, Jumbo's, Construction, FHA, FNMA, HUD, VA and private).
  15. Provide direction and oversight to end to end Mortgage loan servicing.
  16. Maintain all contacts with established investors and implement marketing techniques that will develop new prospective secondary market investors.
  17. Maintain thorough and current knowledge of the Conventional, Jumbo's, Construction, FHA, FNMA, HUD, VA and other investor requirements; recommend changes as necessary to the Credit Union policy manual.
  18. Develop and maintain current knowledge of Credit Union lending policies and market areas.
  19. Maintain historical pricing information including all indices.
  20. Provide basic financial counseling as needed or requested by members.
  21. Participate in community and business development activities such as Chamber of Commerce, Board of Realtors, and Homebuilders events.
  22. Serve as a member of the credit union's Executive Team, contributing to cross-functional projects, initiatives, and assignments as needed.
  23. Communicate effectively with Credit Union employees; ensure coordination and exchange of information to accomplish Credit Union goals. Display respect, trust, and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example; display solid ethics and integrity at all times. Control risk and manage real estate lending in a safe and sound manner.
  24. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

What You Will Need:
  1. Five to eight years of similar or related experience; financial organization experience desired.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field; or equivalent completion of a specialized course of study, training, and experience.
  3. Obtain and maintain valid NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator Identification (MLO) Number.
  4. Experience in underwriting Home Loans. Familiarity with secondary mortgage market and underwriting requirements.
  5. Experience with origination and servicing software desired.
  6. Knowledge of Conventional, Jumbo's, Construction, FNMA, HUD, FHA and VA underwriting guidelines.
  7. Knowledge of packaging, delivering and executing commitments to secondary markets.
  8. Proven professional sales ability in a financial or real estate venue.
  9. Experience supervising, motivating, and evaluating staff required.
  10. Experience in analyzing and understanding local and national economic data and making and setting marketing and pricing strategies.
  11. Extensive knowledge of mortgage lending practices and procedures.
  12. Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  13. Some travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.
  14. A valid Driver's License is required.
