Position Summary
Manages all training and education needs for the facililty.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing and registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Continuing education as required to maintain licensure and stay current professionally.
- Gerontology experience preferred.

- Knowledge and interest in geriatric and restorative nursing care.
- Knowledge of governmental laws for nursing practice.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Treats residents, employees, and coworkers as customers, providing quality service and assistance
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors Licensed Nurses and CNAs to ensure quality resident care. Maintain positive attitude and set a professional example. Functions in conjunction with the DON following up on problem areas (including discipline).
- Assists with quality measures management.
- Coordinates Quality Improvement Projects related to nursing processes.
- Assists with compliance activities, including audits.
- Completes new admission audits i.e., to include reviews of orders, assessments, and care plans
- Organizes and provides orientation for new hires, conducting extensive training and follow-up for RN/LPN, CNA, and PCAs. Documents and tracks hours as needed. Provides in-service for blood borne pathogens for all new staff.
- Ensures that all new hires have received complete orientation, keys, login information for EMR and all new employee information to successfully retain employment.
- Maintains functional and working 802/672 daily.
- Incident and accident review and follow-up completion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities continued
- Follows up with new nursing employees to ensure orientation was adequate and completes employee competencies. Coordinates with the RN Supervisors completion of the Supervisor New Hire form gathering information from new employee and peers etc.
- Organizes annual staff training and in-services. Notifies Department Heads of staff required to attend. Administers and records the annual TB testing and reports any conversions. Employee presents the infection control portion of this in service.
- Actively participates in weekly grand round process, including follow-up.
- CPR management of licensed staff.
- Monthly behavior management program.
- Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary as directed by DON.
- Conducts annual skill reviews for all nursing staff.
- Organize nursing in services as required by licensure regulations and required number of annual training hours. Coordinate and presents monthly meetings and special nursing programs as an additional educational component.
- Organizes, coordinates, and educates staff regarding new computer programs or updates in conjunction with the DON.
- Develops new in services to coincide with new regulations and new products.
- Monitors Personal Care staff orientations and training hours. Coordinates and presents monthly meetings and mandatory training (First Aid, Med Tech training) according to DPW and licensure requirements.
- Collects quality assurance forms from nursing staff i.e. call bell audits, germ audits etc. in order to ensure staff compliance. Communicates results with DON.
- Maintaining adequate resources for new hires, agency staff, etc. to ensure no interruption in facility workflows.
- on-call rotation.
- Establish relationships with outside vendors, physicians, etc. to problem solve facility issues.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Recommends departmental cost effectiveness suggestions.
- Attends in-services and any other related duties and responsibilities that become necessary as directed by DON.
- Attends the quarterly CQI meetings and reports on current quality audits.
- Administer PPD’s to employees as may be required
