Staff Chaplain

Salary Range: $31.54 - $47.53 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Position Overview:

The Staff Chaplain maintains the highest standard of spiritual care to patients, families, hospital personnel and medical staff by assisting them to integrate the experience of illness, trauma, end-of-life, and loss with their own spiritual/religious beliefs. The Staff Chaplain will act as a liaison between the hospital and surrounding faith communities to ensure continuity of care. The Staff Chaplain will be an active, supporting member of the Palliative Care Team to provide a spiritual component to patients and families as they journey towards the end of their lives.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry or equivalent degree and/or Certificate of Ministry from an accredited university or college 
• Current ordination or commission to function in a ministry of pastoral care, granted by an appropriate religious authority according to the standard practice and policy of that authority 
• Current endorsement by a recognized religious faith group for ministry as a chaplain 
• Clinical Education to function as a competent pastoral care provider. This requires a minimum of 800 hours or four (4) units of pastoral education or accepted work experience 
• A minimum of two years full-time experience as a chaplain 
• Knowledge and experience in bioethical issues and decision making skills 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel

Preferred:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
