A Non-Profit Organization is York County's Domestic Violence Resource Center. Caring Unlimited is committed to being an accessible, culturally responsive, and trauma informed organization. As part of an experienced legal team, this position provides civil legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking in York County including, but not limited to, legal advice, representation in civil litigations, and assistance with other legal administrative matters that may not entail judicial involvement as needed for clients to establish safety. The successful candidate will possess
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
- Up to a year of related experience providing legal services to clients with demonstrated skills in PFA order and family matter litigation and other civil court matters, preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in litigation, human relations, conflict resolution.
- Ability to create and sustain respectful relationships with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, clients, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Educational requirements:
Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution with Maine licensure and member in good standing of the Maine Bar required. Successful completion of advocacy training upon hire. Qualifications may be obtained through work experience, education, personal experience, or a combination of these.
