Works within the office of Fairfax County Dranesville District Supervisor James. N. Bierman. This Staff Aide is expected to be a self-starter whose duties include:
- Create content for weekly newsletter and social media channels with oversight by the Communications Manager.
- Maintain Dranesville District website.
- Create graphics for use by office staff.
- Track social media and press mentions.
- Manage office’s homeowner association contact list.
- Initiate and manage various community engagement events throughout the district.
- Provide constituent services on various issues as needed and serve as the liaison to county departments and state/federal agencies.
- Assist with drafting of press releases, talking points, and board matters.
- Draft policy memos, letters, and constituent mail.
- Attend stakeholder meetings as needed (mix of virtual and in-person meetings).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Experience in communications, public relations, political science, constituent services, event production, or similar line of work.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Not applicable.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as organizational and research skills.
- Confidence in dealing with members of the public and ability to interact proactively with constituents.
- Ability to multitask under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent workplace software
- Experience with graphics software including, Adobe Photoshop, Canva
- Experience with newsletter software including, Constant Contact, Govdelivery, Mailchimp
- Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in political settings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position will require use of a vehicle to attend events outside of the office; may require lifting up to 20 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
