Staff Accountant

Wythe Hotel is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team

Wythe Hotel is the original boutique hotel in Williamsburg Brooklyn, focused on culture, food, community, and warm, genuine service. We are staunchly local, and mindful of our role in Brooklyn’s proud history of welcoming people from all over the world.

The hotel's ground floor houses beloved brasserie, Le Crocodile, helmed by Executive Chefs Aidan O'Neal. The 125-seat eatery serves lunch and dinner 7 days a week and offers all-day bar service.

Our 6th floor bar, Bar Blondeau, is popular with guests and neighbors for natural wines, craft cocktails and a seafood focused menu comprised of delightful, share-friendly small plates with views of the Manhattan skyline.

Our events department books a variety of private spaces in the hotel - our Main Event Hall & Garden, the hotel's loft rooms on the 7th and 8th floors, the Cooper Room in our cellar and our Private Screening Room and Bar - for weddings, corporate functions, and smaller group meetings.

Wythe Hotel opened in 2012 on the Williamsburg waterfront as the first hotel in Brooklyn to reflect and celebrate the creative spirit of our borough. We are located in a 117-year-old factory building that has been meticulously converted into a 70-room hotel.

General Description:

The primary purpose of the Staff Accountant is to support the Financial Controller in all aspects of the financial workings of the hotel. The ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of accounting, including but not limited to the full AP cycle, processing of payroll for a company with over 100 employees, and understanding of financial statements. Close attention to detail is paramount, and you must have unparalleled communication skills, both verbal and written

Job Responsibilities:

• Processing invoices EFT and Check payments on a daily and weekly basis
• Coding invoices to proper expense accounts
• Scan and upload invoices into our accounting system
• Respond to Vendor and internal Inquiries
• Reconcile vendor statements in a timely fashion based on a set close date.
• Preparation of weekly Sales Journals that lead into weekly financial reporting.
• Ad Hoc requests from the Controller
• Weekly cash reconciliations
• Weekly processing of payroll
• Recording of payroll in accounting software
• Bank Reconciliations
• Credit Card Reconciliation
• Assisting in Preparation of financial statements

Experience and Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience with a high-volume organization
• Accounting Degree a plus
• Food & Beverage or Hotel accounting experience a plus
• Experience with Sage Accounting software, ADP, Toast & Craftable a plus
• Must understand accounting terminology (i.e. Debit, Credit, Journal entries etc.)
• Highly organized and detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Must maintain extreme confidentiality to protect sensitive data
• Self-motivated and able to multitask.
• Motivation to increase your accounting knowledge and a willingness to learn new tasks.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
