Position Summary:
As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the company by assisting with various accounting tasks. Your duties will include preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. You will collaborate closely with other members of the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and provide valuable insights to support decision-making.
Job Responsibilities (include the following, but not limited to):
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable transactions, and payroll records.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable balances, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze financial data and trends to identify variances, abnormalities, or areas for improvement.
- Assist budgeting & forecasting processes by providing relevant financial information & analysis.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with accounting policies & procedures.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed, including process improvements and system implementations.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Continue professional education by participating in webinars, workshops, & networking events.
- Provide support and assistance to other members of the finance team as necessary.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Experience with Sage and / or QuickBooks is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Willingness to adapt to change and learn new skills as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor / manager within the scope of the company.
Compensation:
- This is an hourly position with the pay range of $24.00 - $30.00 per hour which depends on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, licenses/certifications, etc.
