Tele-Optics is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the execution and oversight of all accounting functions. This position includes the development of administrative and accounting goals, the plans to meet those goals, working with department heads and other accounting team members, and the follow-up required to ensure the company is always moving forward financially as directed by the Executive Team. This is a full-time position and reports to the Owners/Executive Team. This position works closely with the Accounts team, Payroll Administrator, and Department Managers.
Role and Responsibilities
· Provide active direction and recommendations to the Executive Team/Owners for reviewing and forecasting financials
· Drive consistency, accuracy and timeliness for the monthly and quarter closings.
· Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and other items related to month-end and quarter-end processes.
· Routinely analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
· Assist with preparation/review of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.
· Enter and prepare journal entries which includes approved reclassification of expenses into and out of accounts, correcting entries, allocating expenditures, etc.
· Participate in the preparation and entry of the annual budget to ensure cost control.
· Prepare monthly account reconciliations and assist with state sales tax allocations
· Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls,
· Work with the outside accounting firm for review and end of year Audit preparation
· Learn, maintain, and increase knowledge in the accounting software (Foundation).
· Ensure the confidentiality of all Company records and documents.
· Assist with special projects assigned by the Owners/Executive Team and perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
· Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Considerable skill in problem solving and dealing with confidential information/situations.
· A solid understanding and experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar programs.
· Good communications skills and the ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from the Executive Team to accomplish objectives.
· Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· A minimum of five years of experience in accounting. Experience within a mid-size family-owned company is a plus. Experience in Cost Accounting a plus.
· Highly detail oriented and organized in work with the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
