Description
This role is categorized as Hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
The Role:
The Senior Security Specialist is a technical leadership position which requires leading the definition and implementation of GM Cyber Security technology direction, standards or technology roadmaps across GM business units or multi-functional IT organizations minimally within one security domain.
In this role you will perform complex assignments requiring a wider application of security principles, theories, and concept. You will interact with senior internal leadership. May lead and provide direction to a team of individuals. Expected to influence without direct control. You will work with independence, though some support and advice is readily available from the manager. During the year you will set short term objectives and guidelines in support of security strategy, which have a direct impact on Security's overall results. You will hold yourself and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and creates a winning culture.
What You'll Do:
- As domain expert with B2C focus, you will identify, evaluate, and participate in decision making around new and emerging Cloud Authentication and MFA technologies, and must be able to support other areas of IAM and Information Security as needed.
- Lead MFA engineering strategy and execution which includes setting direction for engineering efforts, driving technology selection (Including buy vs build decision) and being actively involved as the functional technical leader during implementation.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of troubleshooting and configuring Cloud Authentication and MFA policies for applications, API integrations, as well as determining exclusions. Partner with Cyber Security teams to ensure implementations meet internal policies and security standards.
- Administer Cloud Multifactor Authentication as well as Smartcard/Biometric technologies.
- Support authentication, access policies, and single sign-on use cases relating to Windows, *nix, MacOS, and Ubuntu.
- Participate in evaluating, installing, upgrading, configuring, end-to-end security testing and troubleshooting of MFA products including mobile and biometrics.
- Provide expert level security consultation on internal projects focusing on business needs, security's role in change management, and how data is transmitted internally and externally.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 7+ years of Identity and Access Management or Information Security experience with at least 3-5 years focused on Cloud or Multifactor Authentication solutions.
- Strong understanding of Authentication and MFA constructs within Cloud environments; Extensive experience with securing, hardening, and maintaining systems using Cloud Authentication and Multifactor capabilities and experience with administration and implementation of large-scale IAM deployments in public and private cloud environments.
- Experience working in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and/or other cloud providers, Kubernetes, Open-Source Cloud Foundry and/or Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
- Hands on experience and working knowledge of security tools and concepts; Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to solve complex problems and effectively communicating technical concepts to business leads; Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
- Technical skills, include but are not limited to SAML, OIDC, OAUTH, RADIUS, Certificate based authentication, FIDO2 keys, Smartcards, and Biometrics.
- Practical experience with SSL certificates, databases, LDAP and directory services, application servers, operating systems, and network infrastructure; Knowledge of DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, Vault, Terraform, ADO, GitHub) with CICD capabilities, including automation experience and programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, KQL, Powershell scripting.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Hands on experience working in large-scale Azure B2C required; prefer experience also in Azure B2B, Azure Government Community Cloud (GCC high/Defense) and/or Azure China 21V environments.
- Experience architecting Identity and Access Management (IAM), Authentication, and Multifactor Authentication (MFA) solutions in cloud environments; B2C focus strongly preferred.
