GENERAL SUMMARY:
- Coordinates daily operations in the Office of Scientific Publications.
- Oversees all editorial and production activities for medical journals and select academic publications produced by departments, professional and administrative staff members.
- Recommends resource allocation plans, budget, staff development and operating policies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Advanced degree (Masters, PhD) plus five (5) years of scientific/medical writing experience with publication credits and a demonstrated record of success.
- Strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to understand and interpret clinical and scientific data and communicate its significance to a variety of audiences.
- Superior communication skills, a scientific or medical background, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience managing multiple writing projects.
- Ability to work independently. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish publication goals.
- May lead and direct work of others.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to advance numerous projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of general office programs (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced scientific analysis skills.
