Job Description and Qualifications

Are you looking for a new challenge in Quality? Are you a stickler for detail and always thinking about the end result? Do you love problem solving, analyzing data, and creating stop gaps? Then the Senior Quality Assurance Technician position in Lawrence, KS is for you!

 

The Senior Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting and implementing standards and procedures which align with the expectations of our customers. The technician interacts daily with multiple levels of management and production personnel, fully supporting the Quality Strategies. The technician must perform inspections on incoming material, completed products, assist with quality audits, be comfortable working with others, and work independently in a high- volume environment.

 

THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:

  • High self-motivation -- ability to work independently on multiple projects.
  • Ability to lead projects across various departments to improve customer-facing quality including elements of:
    • Budget and requisitions
    • Timing
    • Change management
    • PDCA Cycle
  • Maintain and enhance data collection and reporting systems and processes to insure timely and accurate KPI and performance reporting including:
    • Defective parts per million
    • Cost of Poor Quality
    • Aggregate field quality data by count, value and defect type
  • Implement statistical process control, visual factory and ensure control plans are executed per planned arrangement.
  • Follows, assists with, and maintains Quality Assurance standards and procedures.
  • Read and interpret simple engineering drawings to complete material and product inspections.
  • Prepares documents and processes to record results of inspections, and accurately maintains records.
  • Coach, mentor and develop Quality Technicians in core skillsets including:
    • Quality systems audits
    • Customer relations and satisfaction
    • CoPQ models and reporting
    • 8D disciplines, Root cause analysis and respective tools
    • Statistical process control and decision making
    • Design of experiments
    • Risk analysis
  • Manage aspects of statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Propose and implement process improvements within the Quality Assurance department.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  • Experience using QMS Software for control plan implementation, process control and project tracking.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing/Walking: Job requires standing and walking throughout the entire shift.
  • Bending: Job requires doing tasks that involve bending.
  • Lifting/ Carrying: Job requires lifting and stacking of banded door panels to various levels. The maximum required individual lifting limit is forty-five (45 pounds). Must be able safely work with another team member to carry or lift door panels in excess of forty-five pounds. Frequency of lifting and carrying is job task dependent.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Pushing of carts is often required. Occasional pulling to steer the cart is required. A force of 50lbs is required to move a loaded cart. Pushing forces required in excess of 50 lbs requires two persons.
  • Manual dexterity and preciseness to grip small objects and maneuver hands/wrists to operate gauges and testing equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):

  • 5 years of experience implementing quality and quality project planning (i.e., checks and tests).
  • Basic knowledge of company products and processes.
  • Familiarity with the tools of the ASQ Certified Quality Technician.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with production leadership.
  • Ability to operate laboratory-testing equipment.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
