Job Summary:
A Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and analysis of major amusement rides; and provides technical oversight and direction for other Mechanical Engineering team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist in definition of mechanical system performance requirements, concept generation, FMEAs, design review, and selection.
- Participate in hazard analyses (risk assessments) for new rides or new ride functions. Document safety hazards, mitigation methods, and system reliability.
- Perform stress analysis of mechanical structures and components using finite element analysis (FEA) and classical strength-of-material (SOM) calculations. Estimate component factors of safety against loading failure and fatigue.
- Create stress analysis reports to document ride component strength and fatigue life conform to industry code requirements.
- Review, analyze, and report on test data (accelerometer data, strain gage data).
- Participate in or lead engineering design reviews with customers and 3rd-party reviewers.
- Mentor other Mechanical Engineering team members.
- Other duties may include feasibility and safety testing, research and development, and team leadership and/or management of designers, drafters, and other engineers.

Requirements
- S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7+ years practical post-grad experience in mechanical equipment design, stress analysis, and verifications using governing codes and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical design and engineering techniques and ability to apply accepted engineering standards to custom projects.
- Experience preparing schematic or conceptual layouts.
- Ability to develop realistic construction cost estimates.
- Solid computer skills, including SolidWorks and AutoCad.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with engineering team members and customers.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally occasionally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
- 10+ years practical post-grad experience in performing mechanical systems design and analysis.
- Design experience in multiple-disciplinary projects, coordinating with mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering processes.
- Experience with international design standards.
- Experience in preparing project documentation and maintenance manuals.
Demonstrated success in team leadership and managing other engineering professionals.
