The University of Miami UHealth System is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Research Support to work at Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. The incumbent leads the research program teams to ensure successful system implementation and upgrades. Specifically, the Senior Manager, Research Support oversees the day-to-day operations and resources of Research staff and supports programs for their growth and development.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts meetings with research staff and ensures functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provides technical support and resolves operational problems. Oversees department budget and identifies areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
- Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts. Recruits and trains research staff and prepares performance reports and disciplinary recommendations for the leadership team.
- Analyzes reports, data briefs, and auxiliary publications for new topic modules. Defines and produces indicators for a data visualization platform.
- Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Lead advocacy activities for a pandemic convention and regional mechanisms for PPPR with stakeholders and decisionmakers within the United States and internationally, in collaboration with existing and potential partners such as NGOs, Global Health Council, and Global Pandemic Policy Group members.
2. Explore opportunities to organize public discussions, including a virtual webinar series and in-person events in Miami, Washington D.C., and in national conferences.
3. Pursue strategic engagement with the Think Tank-20 (T20) and Science-20 (S20) to influence the G20 around topics such as pandemic funding, regional health governance mechanisms and accountability within a pandemic agreement.
4. Lead advocacy activities for an equitable and accountable pandemic convention, sustainable financing and evidence-based strategies to prevent pandemics with stakeholders and decisionmakers within the United States, in consultation with partners such as the Panel, Policy Group, UNITE, Club de Madrid, Global Health Council, Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS) and Right to Health Action.
5. Lead collaboration with Center for Strategic International Studies.
6. Other duties as assigned.
