What you need to know
- Direct the Environmental Health and Safety program to ensure regulatory compliance to reduce workplace hazards and control losses due to accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
- Develop and administer the Environmental Health and Safety budget, manage vendors allocated for Environmental Health and Safety and PPE.
- Strategically analyze and trend observation data from production areas.
- Administer the Safety training program for all Husqvarna employees and on site contractors while driving a constant continuous improvement in human, equipment, chemical and facility safety and housekeeping.
- Facilitate and lead plant wide Environmental Health, Safety and Facility teams.
- Prepare, update and maintain all required Environmental Health and Safety reports, regulatory agency submittals and operating permits while ensuring the Environmental Health and Safety records system is current and accurate.
- Administer and maintain Star certification under the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program along with the ISO 14001 certification.
- Develop and evaluate the written Environmental Health and Safety policies and programs. Conduct training in support of new Environmental Health and Safety initiatives driven by Husqvarna's core values.
- Manage permit requirements, hazardous waste programs and ensure that hazardous waste are stored and transported in accordance with applicable rules.
- Conduct and coordinate regulatory compliance audits and ensure the timely closure of any findings. Implement programs and processes necessary to close any of the issues identified.
- Complete incident investigations and analysis; regularly perform site hazard assessments and workplace ergonomic analysis.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Operations to decrease Worker's Compensation claims as well as cost.
- Implement strategies necessary to minimize the number of illnesses and injuries associated with occupational instances.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Minimum of five (7) years of Manufacturing/Environmental Health & Safety experience is required or a minimum ten (10) years of experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment with a strong safety culture and demonstrated safety results.
- Experience in leading Facility related projects and improvements
- Ability to execute in a fast paced performance driven environment
- Strong analytical skills required and the ability to report relevant data to be used in making data and fact based decisions
- Good understanding of ergonomic principles, OSHA safety and environmental regulations applicable to the operation with strong communication and influencing skills
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills are required, along with a strong work ethic and sound business judgment.
- Ability to travel, work off shifts and overtime (including weekends) as needed is required.
