The Sr. Director of Operations Strategy will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategic business processes that enhance efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness within the Operations organization. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to identify operational challenges and opportunities, devising strategies that align with our company's growth objectives and mission focused on application of innovative technologies to expand global access to biotherapeutics.
Job Responsibilities:
- In partnership with Quality and Operations leadership, lead the development and execution of comprehensive Operations Strategy, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and continuous improvement that addresses current operational challenges while anticipating future needs
- Ensure that the Operations Strategy is flexible and adaptable to changing dynamics, with a strong emphasis on growth and maturity of operations
- Conduct in-depth analysis of current operational processes and spearhead major initiatives to redesign and enhance business processes across the organization, including but not limited to mapping current processes, identifying inefficiencies, and leveraging data-driven insights to propose and implement more effective and scalable solutions with a goal to significantly improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-site teams to ensure strategies are aligned with overall business goals and regulatory compliance
- In partnership with Operations leadership, develop and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that accurately reflect the efficiency, effectiveness, and overall health of operational processes
- Provide regular reports to senior management, offering clear insights into operational performance and strategic recommendations based on data analysis
- Design and implement best practices for operational excellence, leveraging technology and innovative solutions where applicable
- Manage and mentor operations team members, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision and operational goals
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact operational strategies and processes, ensuring that our operations remain competitive and aligned with identified best practices
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Process Engineering or similar)
- 15+ years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role
- Understanding of cGMP requirements and quality management systems for the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry environment
- Exceptional strategic planning, business acumen and project management skills
- Experience in prioritization of activities and resources
- Demonstrated technical expertise in project management and business operations to contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards
- Experience managing projects with remote teams and in a network matrixed environment
- Previous people management experience required along with a passion for employee development
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in technology and/or process transfer for late-stage clinical manufacturing or commercial qualification campaigns; commercial campaign support is a plus
- Development, scale-up, and transfer of biologics production processes
- Knowledge and expertise in solving complex technical problems, specifically applying novel approaches that provide significant technology advancement
- Experience actively participating in/leading technical projects with collaborators and vendors
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful operational strategies in a high-growth environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of improving operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Excellent leadership and communication skills; capable of motivating and guiding teams towards achieving strategic objectives
- Deep understanding of the biotech industry, including regulatory requirements and innovative operational practices
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $168,000 to $240,000. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual's skills, experience and competitive market value.
