Position Summary:As the Senior Director of Global Operations Finance in the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division, you will lead a world-wide team of 10+ professionals to orchestrate required outcomes of all financial aspects of end-to-end Supply Chain operations, including Manufacturing, Sourcing and Procurement, Productivity and Logistics for the +$3B Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD). You will collaborate with CMD Operations leaders, acting as a sparring-partner, counsel and confidant and mentor, coordinating strategies to drive efficiency in operations and profitable-growth. The candidate will be ideally located at a Thermofisher location in the US or EMEA.
Key Responsibilities:Business Partnership & Leadership:
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop global talent, encouraging a culture of ownership to drive to expected financial outcomes vs. "reporting the news", while honing a continuous improvement mentality!
Act as a trusted business partner and counsel, providing financial stewardship and strategic insights for over $900M of cost-base!
Partner and align effectively with all functions to drive successful outcomes.
Lead critical initiatives to improve profitability and achieve/outperform goals.
Provide strategic financial vision, partnership and stewardship to the global operations team optimizing profit margins, including footprint optimization, design for manufacturability, complexity reduction, sourcing, productivity, indirect cost management, inventory risk, management, and capital allocation.
Lead the design and optimization of the global annual standard setting and roll process across all manufacturing sites.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Lead all aspects of divisional direct manufacturing costs, other cost of sales, and inventory management processes including the alignment across Business Units / operations teams. Establish efficient and effective processes and measure what matters to provide appropriate real-time insights.
Master the middle of the P&L by bringing to bear operations-insights to orchestrate organizational focus in minimizing 'leakage' (i.e. warranty, scrap, high freight costs, lost productivity, longer lead times, having to book excess reserves, fixed-cost under-absorption, etc.).
Drive meticulous, standardized, and clear financial reporting to key site level and business level metrics to ensure sound manufacturing execution by the plant operating teams.
Develop robust process and scorecards to provide insight to savings, restructuring costs, investments and overall financial performance on execution for all Operations initiatives.
Work with Supply Chain, Commercial Finance and Business Unit Finance to drive an effective SIOP process. Manage and control global inventory contributing to strong cash performance for the division.
Lead the preparation of consolidated operations materials for key presentations providing strategic insights for decision-making.
Ensure compliance and controllership discipline is applied throughout all operations decisions, ensuring policies and US GAAP.
Planning and Forecasting:Lead processes to align operating plans down to the lowest level required driving accountability at the point of impact and ensuring there is alignment at all levels of the organization to deliver on financial objectives.
Lead financial elements of the division's forecasting processes, including strategic plans and ongoing forecasts.
Establish use of predictive insights and modern forecasting methods to drive improved accuracy and predictability.
Run the operational budget process, ensuring efficient capital allocation and accountability
Collaborate to drive effective prioritization of operational initiatives and alignment with financial objectives.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA strongly desired.
Minimum of 10 years of dynamic finance experience with management roles, including finance leadership and/or deep Operations Finance expertise.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:- Proven track record of results and mentoring teams to adopt change and deliver elevated levels of performance
