The Press Model Y team at GFTX is looking for a Sr. Equipment Controls Engineer with broad-based industrial automation and equipment maintenance experience, encompassing Electrical/PLC, Robotics, Mechanical, Stamping, Machining, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Conveyor systems experience. The successful candidate will optimize processes, perform safety validations and improvements, upgrades, and new installation of equipment.
- Responsible for equipment controls related activities in the shop
- Support integration, installation and networking of shop floor equipment and tooling into MES systems and PLCs
- Lead and support server operations for SCADA system, specifically Ignition
- Provide technical expertise and operational excellence for the integration and support of manufacturing automation systems like MES, SCADA, ERP
- Work collaboratively with design, product excellence, production operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and other cross functional teams to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts
- Upgrade equipment with a focus on serviceability, reliability, and process capability
- Responsible for continuous process optimization of automated lines as well as providing hands-on support to maintenance in troubleshooting extended downtime and chronical issues
- Drive equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Build training material, maintenance routines, service bulletins, and related documentation related to cradle to grave equipment life cycle management, identify and procure critical service parts as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional Controls Engineering experience, prior automotive press experience preferred
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7), troubleshooting, configuration and commissioning
- Experience with systems such as SCADA and Ignition
- Flexibility in working weekends and night shift as required
- Strong understanding of Mechatronics in how the controls system integrates with mechanical movement and functions of the press and its process
