Job description

The Planetary Health Alliance is a consortium of over 380 universities, non-governmental organizations, research institutes, and government entities from 60+ countries around the world committed to understanding and addressing the impacts of global environmental change on human health and wellbeing.


The PHA team is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated, and proactive Sr. Administrative Coordinator who is eager to contribute to operations of the organization and who demonstrates passion for the PHA’s vision of creating a world where all people thrive by protecting and regenerating Earth’s natural systems for generations to come.


This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the field of Planetary Health and gain valuable experience in communicating across sectors, cultures, and generations all while working in a dynamic team environment. The PHA Sr. Administrative Coordinator will work closely with the PHA's Executive Director and will interface with all team members.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and respond to inquiries in the PHA general email inbox.
  • Support running of weekly Team meetings via Zoom and using the project management tools available.
  • Help to schedule selected meetings and events; support making logistical arrangements, when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Five years progressively responsible administrative experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Role/Level/Range: ATO 40/E/03/OF
Starting Salary Range: Min $21.00 - Max $36.50 HRLY ($59,800 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Casual / On Call
Schedule: Monday - Friday, variable 20 hour week
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
