Location: Lemont, IL-onsite
Pay range: $90,000-$100,000
Responsibilities for this position:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, ensuring proper supporting documentation.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to GAAP principles. Also, create and maintain periodic profitability statements for each business division.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with annual budget process and periodic updates to budget to provide forecasts.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Review customer invoicing and accounts receivable aging and assist in collections efforts when necessary. Review vendor invoices and expense reports from the Accounts Payable Specialist for completeness and ensure timely payment.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Expense Analysis: Conduct regular analysis of expense variances, providing insights to management for cost control and decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Fixed Assets Management: Track and record fixed assets, including expense assignment and depreciation calculations.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing documentation for tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Audit Support: Lead the annual audit process, working with external auditors and providing necessary financial documentation and support.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting, public accounting experience is a plus.
- Cost accounting and/or construction experience a plus
- Self-starter with strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to be ‘hands-on’ and work as a team player.
- Demonstrated accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both writing and verbal
- Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, including Pivot tables and advanced formulas
- Demonstrated successful use of technology to improve process efficiency.
