Sr. Accountant, General Ledger

JAKKS Pacific, Inc., a leading designer and marketer of toys and consumer products, with a wide range of products that feature some of the most popular brands and children's toy licenses in the world, currently seeks an experienced, energetic, self-starter for the role of Senior Accountant, General Ledgerfor our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. This role will be part of the General Ledger Accounting team and support the month-end, quarterly and annual close processes as well as the SEC reporting process.
Responsibilities include:

• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for journal entries that is compliant with the requirements of our internal control's system (SOX 404b)
• Develop a deeper understanding of the assigned areas and support analytical reviews of the financial statement data
• Assist with the preparation for internal and external audits
• Assist with tax returns and statutory audits/filings for multiple jurisdictions
• Support special/ad-hoc projects, as needed

Skills & Experience required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Some public accounting experience is a plus
• Understanding of U.S. GAAP and its applications
• 2-10 years of accounting experience
• Team spirit and strong sense of responsibility and ownership
• Experience with SOX 404b and internal controls a plus
• SEC reporting experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, complex formulas, processing large amounts of data)
• Proficiency with ERP accounting software and database programs (experience with JD Edwards a plus)
• Quantitative, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize work
• Ability and willingness to take initiative and apply curiosity to develop new approaches and solutions
• Ability to meet deadlines and work some overtime as required during peak seasons

• Compensation: JAKKS Pacific offers a competitive salary. Compensation for this role commensurate with experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $65,000-$100,000.
