Position Overview

We are in search of a top tier Senior Accountant who is highly motivated to learn and grow within a fast-paced organization. This role will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process, SOX compliance control execution and quarterly/annual audit process, as well as identifying and driving project-based work to provide process efficiencies for the General Ledger team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, communicative, self-motivated team player with a solid working knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls. Additionally, this individual thrives on process improvement and enjoys working in a challenging, collaborative environment to support our continued growth and success. This role will be reporting to the GL Accounting Manager and can be remote with a preference toward Pacific Time zone.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
  • Perform various GL month-end close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations of assigned accounts (e.g., cash, prepaid, accrued liabilities, debt, lease, allocation etc.) in a timely manner
  • Prepare and provide General Ledger reporting and analysis to ensure accounts are properly stated.
  • Ensure that accounting records are accurate and complete with ledgers closed in a timely manner.
  • Create, analyze, and present monthly financial and operational reports to the Controller and managers (e.g., fluctuation analysis)
  • Actively participate with management in preparation of annual budgets.
  • Advise managers in financial matters where appropriate.
  • Assist with process improvement and project development oversight.
  • Monitor payables, budget variances, and important trends.
  • Ensure internal controls exist to adequately mitigate risk inherent in key processes (Prepaid, cash, fixed asset, etc).
  • Provide direct assistance and support in the quarterly financial statements review, annual financial statements audit and income tax filings.
  • Participate in system and process enhancements/ upgrades in collaborate with IT
  • Address auditor requests and maintain appropriate SOX documentation
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Participation in month-end close by performing a variety of accounting tasks.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and various departments to support business initiatives
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement to increase efficiency and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Ownership of Fixed Assets including record, maintain fixed assets within QAD Fixed Asset software

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with 2+ years in Big 4 public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a public company strongly preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. Strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks.
  • Must be a self-starter and team player and able to work in a fast pace and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detail is required.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting systems, such as QAD is a plus.
  • Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented disposition
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
  • Capacity to prioritize projects, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building strong professional relationships
  • Diplomacy, tact, and poise under pressure when working through issues

Compensation for this role: $100,000-130,000 + bonus and stock
