Sr. Accountant

Eastridge Workforce Solutions, in partnership with our San Diego-based client, is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their growing team. Our client, an American-owned and operated small business, specializes in developing and manufacturing rugged MIL-Spec electronics and technologies. Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Accounts Payable:

• Maintain accounting records, including electronic document storage.
• Process invoices, maintain W-9 records, and prepare 1099 forms.
• Handle expense reports and credit card processing.
• Conduct weekly or as-needed check runs and mailing.
• Respond to supplier inquiries and demonstrate knowledge of sales tax rules.

Accounts Receivable:

• Process customer invoices and manage collection activities.
• Conduct supplier relationships, credit reviews, and new customer credit checks.
• Respond to customer inquiries.

Cost Accounting:

• Demonstrate knowledge of inventory and standard cost costing methods.
• Understand Bills of Material and prepare updates for changes in costing or routings.
• Conduct variance analysis, including work order and purchase price variances.
• Handle labor and overhead application, project accounting, and margin analysis.
• Provide support for physical inventory.

Banking Activities:

• Daily reconciliation of banking transactions.
• Ensure legitimacy of disbursements.
• Enter transactions into the accounting system.
• Maintain fraud control records with the bank.
• Process bank deposits and credit cards as needed.

Reporting and Month-End Close:

• Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and analyses.
• Post journal entries and reconcile ledger accounts.
• Perform month-end close processes for income statement, balance sheet, and other reports.
• Analyze accounting documents for accuracy and take corrective action when necessary.

Audit and Other Support:

• Assist with year-end and other audits, including preparing audit and tax schedules.
• Collect additional data as needed.

Other Duties:

• Implement and update internal control and procedures as needed.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Record Keeping:

• Scan documents and maintain files.
• Organize the electronic file system and adhere to company naming conventions.

Requirements:

• Previous Manufacturing and Physical Inventory experience
• High school education or equivalent and three to five years of related experience in the Biotech or Manufacturing fields.
• CPA not required but college-level accounting classes are a plus.
• Computer literate using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of ERP accounting systems, especially QAD, is a plus.
