Role Description
Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Specialty Nursing Director for our Greenville, SC location. The Specialty Nursing Director will oversee and direct the nursing staff to ensure high-quality, compassionate patient care. This is a full-time, on-site position.
The Specialty Nursing Director performs a range of duties focused on management of hourly employees including Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) and unlicensed veterinary assistants. The Specialty Nursing Director is responsible for maintaining the standards of medical care in the specialty departments. The Director is also responsible for personnel schedules and assignments to ensure an effective, efficient, and profitable workflow for the practice while helping to maintain a healthy work environment for the team.
Job Functions
- Work with Hospital Director, Human Resources manager, and Medical Director to maintain an appropriate team size for hospital needs within operating budget
- Oversee and maintain weekly schedules and assignments for LVT and unlicensed assistants including on call schedules and time off requests.
- Post weekly schedule into scheduling software
- Collaborate with Medical Director and HD to ensure adequate technical support for each doctor
- Manage hospital rabies policy, including filing incident reports and following up with DHEC
- Monitor attendance and PTO to ensure hospital policies are followed
- Manage daily Dayforce entries/corrections for staff
- Participate in interviews of prospective LVT and unlicensed veterinary assistant candidates
- Work with ER Nursing Director to ensure a cohesive work environment between the two groups
- Conduct monthly meetings with Technician Leads to ensure they receive the proper support to perform their duties
- Assist HD/HR/Technician Leads with clinical and policy warnings, performance improvement plans, and all levels of disciplinary actions for LVTs and unlicensed veterinary assistants
- Assist with scheduling on-site CE and meetings
- Participate in weekly management meetings
- Provide coverage due to absences, PTO, etc as needed to ensure proper hospital support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree from an AVMA accredited school and have successfully passed the VTNE
- Current SC LVT license required
- 5+ years of experience in specialty/ER Veterinary Medicine
- 3+ years of leadership/management experience in veterinary nursing or related field preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of nursing staff
- Dedication to providing exceptional patient care and client service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of advanced fluid therapy, anesthetic monitoring, advanced CPR and all aspects of laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
- Knowledge of advanced pharmacology and medical terminology, as well as knowledge of surgical procedures and disease processes
- Ability to develop, implement, and manage nursing policies, protocols, and standards of care

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
