Job description

The role of the Director of Nursing in a substance dependency treatment facility is crucial for providing quality nursing services, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a safe environment for clients undergoing detoxification.

Primary Tasks:

Administrative Oversight:
  • Supervising nursing functions and staff directly.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining objectives, policies, procedures, organization plans, and quality assurance programs.
  • Planning and budgeting for nursing services.
    Hiring of all nurses and assistance with any agency, etc.
Coordination and Integration:
  • Ensuring coordination and integration of Nursing services with other client care services for continuity of care.
  • Compliance with required nursing and staffing patterns.

Human Resources Management:
  • Developing job descriptions for nursing staff and assigning duties.
  • Participating in staff orientation, education activities, and team conferences.

Documentation and Emergency Response:
  • Providing required documentation in client records.
  • Recording medications administered and those self-administered by clients.
  • Efficiently performing in emergency patient situations.

Promotion and Representation:
  • Positively promoting the facility to prospective clients and employees.

Requirements:

Professional Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse in South Carolina.
  • One year of Nursing supervision or administration experience.
  • One year of full-time experience in managing addictions in a licensed substance use disorders treatment facility.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to assess and deliver nursing services to individuals detoxifying from substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of toxicology testing, substance abuse treatment strategies, and medication-assisted therapy.

Ethical and Behavioral Standards:
  • Adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
  • Participation in continuing professional development.
