Description

The Specialty Chaplain provides professional and competent spiritual care ministry, and is responsible for serving the spiritual, religious, and emotional needs of care recipients and caregivers in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. As a leader of the healthcare team, they are directly responsible for the implementation of the Mission and Values and leads implementation of policies and procedures of the Department of Spiritual Health Services and the facility in which they serve.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry or the equivalent applicable education from an accredited institution.
  • Coursework/Training: 4 Units—Accredited or approved by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), by programs that were accredited by the former United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB/CCA), or the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).
  • National Chaplain Certification within 3 years of hire.
  • 5 years of Clinical and/or pastoral experience in healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Accredited or approved by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), by programs that were accredited by the former United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB/CCA), or the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).
  • Leadership in professional organizations such as APC, NACC, etc.
  • Participation in chaplain related, publication worthy research.

About the Team

Providence Physician Enterprise (PE) is a service line within Providence serving patients across seven states with quality, compassionate, coordinated care. Collectively, our medical groups and affiliate practices are the third largest group in the country with over 11,000 providers, 900 clinics and 30,000 caregivers.
