Job description

The South Texas Project Electric Generating Station is one of the newest and largest nuclear power facilities in the nation. STP's two units produce 2,700 megawatts of carbon-free electricity - providing clean energy to two million Texas homes. SUMMARY
Serves to coordinate and provide timely, consistent, and accurate information to designated target audiences. This position coordinates STP’s Visitor Program, which includes conducting and assisting with tours for approved visitor groups. Serves as a point of contact for specific issues/activities. Supports the Communications Manager in planning and developing materials, and communicating with key stakeholders related to Media Relations, Community Involvement, Corporate Donations and Corporate Events.
Spec Public Affairs I
EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or Business Management. (Preferred)
  • Without a degree, 5 years’ experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, Corporate Communications, or other closely related area will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience not required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Texas Driver’s license (Required)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to handle constant and multiple deadlines, participate on cross functional project teams and respond positively to plant environment.
  • Quickly establishes solid rapport and trust in a complex environment and maintains strong relationships throughout the company and the surrounding community.
  • Must adapt to special restraints, sensitivities, knowledge requirements of nuclear energy.
  • Assist with providing detail-oriented support as needed to the Corporate Communications team and the development of various products as directed by the Communications Manager.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accept ERO position as needed.
  • Accept outage position as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
  • Normal office environment with some trips to the plant.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Fast paced, high pressure work environment.
WORK LOCATION
  • Hybrid/Remote – Due to the nature of the work, this position provides the ability for a hybrid work schedule between site and an alternate work location. Alternate work locations require adequate technology and that a solid ergonomic setup is present. Note: Work schedules are contingent on business needs.
