Job Description
What You'll Do
Working under direction of the Administrator, Instructors and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and practices, assist teachers and students in the Automotive Technology programs.
- Under the direction of the Automotive Technology teachers, work with students to order and stock supplies, check out and track equipment and provide industry expertise and oversight in an automotive parts and service environment.
- Maintain proper parts inventory levels and times purchases to coincide with needs. Allocate purchased parts and supplies to coincide with their intended purposes.
- Process all Automotive Technology related purchases, assign orders to proper budget lines, develop and maintain a system for organization of receipts, and monthly reconciliation of all purchases.
- Shop management: Assist students with preparation of vehicle repair orders, create invoices, and accept payments for customer repair work.
- Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
- Assists Automotive Instructors as part of a teaching team in instructing students.
- Delivery of curriculum focused on the alternative career pathways affiliated with Automotive Technology (EX. OEM and aftermarket parts professionals, Automotive service advising)
- May assume responsibility for classroom teachers, when the teacher is absent.
- Assist with Automotive Technology classroom management including: student management and safety procedures, classroom inventory and supply management.
- Works with all students under the guidance of the Automotive Instructors to provide individualized support.
- Assists with the coordination of work-based learning, maintain communication and correspondence with the Automotive Technology advisory committee.
- Participates in the marketing efforts for the program.
- Assumes other such related responsibilities as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Need to Have
- Two years' recent successful work experience in automotive parts and/or service environment.
- Ability to obtain either a substitute teacher permit, substitute career authorization or annual career authorization preferred.
- Ability to establish and control inventory system.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret inventory reports.
- Instructional/training experience is highly desirable.
- High level of computer skills, including office software (required).
- Basic understand of automotive specific computer software for repair information as well as shop management (Ex. Pro Demand, Identifix, All Data)
- Able to adapt instructional approaches to individual student needs.
- Able to understand and follow existing policies and procedures.
- Able to work with others and communicate effectively with individuals and with groups.
- Able to meet deadlines, follow through on assignments and anticipate classroom/student needs.
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
