Job Description
  • Product/Portfolio/Technology messaging:
    • Develop product messaging collateral to effectively communicate the product portfolio, product roadmap, value proposition, performance benefits, technology differentiators, TCO benefits etc, & get alignment with key internal stakeholders.
    • Set up regular calls to train various channel, business, and account leads on the product messaging.
  • Lead customer engagement:
    • Lead the customer roadmap & technology review meetings for key customers. Ensure alignment with internal business, sales & FAE teams.
    • Be the voice of the customer: Identify gaps between customer requirements & product capabilities. Interface with internal product management & engineering teams to close the gaps.
    • Own customer strategy:
      • Learn & become the expert on your customer behavior. Identify the impact of various trends (market, macro-economic, emerging technologies etc) on customer behavior, and develop qualitative & quantitative customer insights to predict future demand & product transitions. Develop and execute customer strategy based on these insights.
      • Transfer the insights to the business planning teams & other stakeholders on a recurring basis.
      • Track TAM, SAM & SOM to ensure the customer strategy is on track.
  • Cross-functional engagement:
    • Engage with product management, engineering , applications, business planning, & customer support teams to track product lifecycle changes from qualification, ramp to mass production, through end of life. Ensure that your customers transition through each of these phases in a smooth manner by tracking progress, resolving issues, keeping the stakeholders informed, and escalating when necessary.
    • Engage with product management, engineering, applications, business planning, & customer support teams to develop customer collateral (product introduction, design reviews, end of life)throughout the product lifecycle and drive alignment with customers as well as internal teams.
  • Competitive positioning:
    • Stay up to date on competitive insights (portfolio, performance, specifications, differentiators, features etc) & refine collateral to position our products effectively.
    • Refine and evolve customer strategy dynamically based on competitive scenarios.
  • Ecosystem enablement:
    • Lead the engagement with key ecosystem CPU & HBA partners by aligning product roadmaps & feature development. Ensure interoperability with ecosystem partners to enable a frictionless customer experience.
    • Lead recurring ecosystem partner meetings to:
      • Ensure our products are interoperable & listed on partner websites
      • Resolve interoperability issues by working cross-functionally with end customers, partners, & internal teams
      • Ensure that there is resource alignment on new features development
    • Set up recurring roadmap alignment meetings to ensure our products align with our partner schedules. Gather relevant insights to drive internal cross-functional team alignment.
    • Drive periodic executive alignment
Qualifications

Engineering Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

5 -10 years experience customer facing experience in a technical role.

Background in Storage and/or Semiconductors.

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
