Job Title: Children's Museum Event Assistant (Part-Time)

Location: Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, Charleston, SC

Hours: Friday evenings and Saturdays; flexible scheduling based on museum events

Hourly Rate: $20/hour

Position Summary: The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to join our team as Event Assistants. This part-time position involves supporting museum events both within our facility and at various community festivals. Event Assistants will primarily work on Friday evenings and Saturdays, assisting with hosting birthday parties, staffing children's events, and ensuring an engaging and safe environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown of museum events, including but not limited to birthday parties, workshops, and special programs.

· Provide excellent customer service to museum visitors, parents, and event attendees.

· Engage with children and families to enhance their museum experience through interactive activities and educational opportunities.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

· Assist with crowd management and supervision of children during events, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

· Collaborate with museum staff and volunteers to ensure seamless execution of events and programs.

· Represent the museum at community festivals and off-site events, promoting museum initiatives and engaging with the public.

Qualifications:

· Previous experience working with children in a museum, educational, or recreational setting preferred.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

· Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative individual with a passion for working with children and families.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, with occasional availability for Special Events during weekdays.

· Basic knowledge of event planning and coordination is desirable.

· Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to upholding the museum's mission and values.

· High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in education, child development, or related field preferred.
